Now this little pub is seconds from Cheshire Oaks but you’d never know it. Down a long country lane, we used to visit here many years ago. So when my husband said he’d booked us and the dogs in for dinner last week it was a lovely surprise. It’s a treat putting makeup on these days!

On arrival we were ushered into the dog friendly area and I must admit I was a little dismayed to find ourselves in a tiny back section of the bar which already was pretty full with local chaps that reminded me of my dad. Luckily these guys were all really friendly, loved the dogs and were great to chat to. We let the dogs off their leads with their permission, as there was no where they could run off to and they loved every second of being spoiled by everyone.

The day we went it was National Burger Day so before we’d even arrived I’d perused the menu online and chosen a burger to enjoy. My foodie Instagram friends may have even swayed my decision. So after the dogs were full of treats given to them by our new friends, I wandered off to the bar to order. Unfortunately the menu was smaller due to the current pandemic situation, but the burgers were still on there. Phew!
I ordered ‘The Tispy Cow’ burger. This consisted of a beef burger, Jack Daniels sauce, smoked bacon, cheese and a humongous onion ring. My husband ordered ‘The Big Pig’ burger. This again was a beef burger, but this time with a pork sausage, smoked bacon, pulled pork and cheese. Both came with the most amazing homemade chips and coleslaw and honestly, I’ve not had such a nice burger in a good long while.

It turned out to be a great National Burger Day for us anyway! The dogs had a blast meeting some new people, we absolutely loved our food, the staff and locals were great fun and we’ve rediscovered a local foodie spot! We will definitely be going again!
