The Goat Inn, Glandwyfach

A gloriously sunny day in Wales

After a lovely weekend in Porthmadog we stopped, with our two dogs, at The Goat Inn in Glandwyfach. We had previously booked a table which turned out to be a great idea, as with only opening a few hours at lunch and dinner, they were turning people away at the door.

We had spoken to the management online about Steven dietary needs and they were more than accommodating and assured us it wouldn’t be an issue. And so, we arrived and were seated quickly in this quirky old pub.

The lovely interior

Steve went for a smooth chicken liver, brandy and herb pate with chutney and gluten free bread. He hadn’t had pate in forever and was chuffed to bits that this was gluten and dairy free. I think the chutney that arrived was more like a cranberry jelly, but I had a try and it was lovely, For mains he chose a 14oz gammon steak with grilled tomato, fried egg, chips and peas. When this arrived it was flippin’ enormous. Great value for money!

I went straight to mains and chose wholetail breaded scampi with chips and peas. Mainly as I haven’t had scampi in a while and I love the stuff. But then I spied the dessert menu. Sticky toffee pudding yes please! And with custard! I was so happy as nowhere does custard anymore, it’s usually ice cream or cream. I think the staff thought I was weird but I was so excited I think they gave me extra haha.

It was a lovely way to end our holiday. The staff were friendly, the food was great and we drove home happy. What more could you ask for 🥰
