Tucked away in a corner of Liverpools historic Royal Albert Docks is The Smugglers Cove. Home to 151 types of rum, gin tequila and whiskey, I was kindly invited to try out their new brunch menu.
After a brisk walk from the bus station (the trains were off) we arrived to a lovely, welcoming, and bright room with a high ceiling and a fabulous chandelier made from helmets and what I can only assume were other plundered treasures 😜

Now the menu wasn’t huge but had everything you could want from brunch, including the option to add bottomless drinks! None of that for us today though ha.
I went for the Smoked Trout Eggs Benedict. A toasted English muffin topped with poached eggs, smoked trout and hollandaise.

It was truly delicious, with perfectly poached eggs and a silky smooth hollandaise. My friend chose the Brunch Twist. Now this was a brunch and a half……… Cumberland sausage, maple bacon, eggs Benedict, papaya and buckwheat granola, Bircher muesli and fresh fruit. Like a whole buffet on one plate! I loved the look of this and apparently the maple bacon was particularly good.

It all went down a treat with hot drinks first thing in the morning. The staff were really friendly and attentive and we had a great time.
I’ve since spied this places Sunday lunches so we will definitely be back! Thanks guys we loved it!
