Silk Road Tapas, Heswall

The Silk Road Menu

Silk Road is a tapas restaurant offering a great fusion of cuisines, from the Pacific to the Mediterranean. With small plates from Thailand to Greece, Turkey to Spain. The restaurant in Heswall had a lovely atmosphere, very attentive staff and a great menu for us to choose from. They were also great at letting us know which dishes Steve could and couldn’t eat.

Steve went for (gluten and dairy free):

Chicken Satay – served with a peanut dip

Patatas Bravas

Gambas Pil Pil

Tuscan Meatballs – slow cooked beef meatballs in a tomato and herb sauce

Spiced Pork Belly – slow cooked and a sweet and spicy chilli sauce

Patatas Bravas & Pork Belly

I, with a much smaller appetite went for:

Veggie Spring Rolls – served with chilli dip

Halloumi Saganaki – pan fried and drizzled with honey

Duck, spring onion, cucumber and Hoisin Bao Bun

And you know what? It was plenty. I have a tendency to over order at tapas places so this was just right on this particular outing.

Spring rolls, Halloumi saganaki & chicken satay
Duck Bao Bun

The food was fresh, delicious and I quite like that it comes as it’s ready in tapas restaurants. I almost forgot I was due a Bao Bun but when it came I wished I’d ordered twenty because wow it was good. I know I love Hoi Sin sauce on anything but this Bao was incredible and is only the second one I’ve ever eaten. I’m yet to have have a bad one luckily!

The only downside to this place was the parking but it was a Saturday night. Even with my disabled badge we had to park a way away. But it was worth it and I’d definitely go back. We might even have to venture to the Liverpool venue. It seems, yet again, if you have food allergies, tapas restaurants are your best bet. Good job we love them hey!
