Karma Indian Food, West Kirby

Babul who manages Pina Loca in Bromborough recommended we try this Indian restaurant run by his brother Hussein, in the West Kirby area of the Wirral. Apparently also extremely allergen friendly, we couldn’t wait to visit.

Parking is right outside on the road and although busy, my disabled badge grabbed me a space. With a very modern interior, not your stereotypical curry house, we were seated in comfy chairs and quickly introduced to the staff and the regular and gluten free menus. Hussein talked Steve through what could be adapted, which was pretty much everything. Lots of Indian food is naturally gluten free anyway so in most instances it was just a case of swapping out a dipping sauce.

On our first visit (yes we’ve been three times in two months) my parents were with us…..

We enjoyed popadoms with homemade pickles, starters of Chicken Chaat on puri, onion bhajis and gf/df pan fried tiger prawns.

Chicken chaat on puri and onion bhajis

For mains my dad indulged in the Naga curry with slow cooked Welsh lamb. He likes it spicy! 🌶️
Myself and mum enjoyed chicken Badami Murgh and Steve went for the gluten and dairy free lamb Kadhai with Sag Aloo. We then shared rice and naans.

The curry selection

We actually went back again whilst my parents were home, as they miss their curries.

This time we went for the early sit in menu at £14.95 each and Hussein was more than happy to adapt to Steve’s allergies and dad’s spice needs.

For mains my dad indulged (a few extra ££) in the Lamb Ceylon with the chef on order to make it super spicy this time. Like hotter than hot spicy. His eyes watered a little so we’re getting there 😂

Mum enjoyed a Chicken Tikka Masala, me a Chicken Tikka Nykle with spinach and Steve went for a gluten and dairy free Garlic Chilli Chicken he specially requested.

More curry

Then for our third visit myself and Steve visited just the two of us, and again we went for the early doors sit in menu which is an absolute bargain. I had the best Chicken Tikka Masala I’ve ever eaten and Steve went for a gluten and dairy free prawn saag which he thoroughly enjoyed.

The food is honestly so so good and we’re chuffed we’ve now got another ‘safe’ restaurant to visit for Steve’s allergies. With dedicated gluten free and vegan menus this place really caters to everyone!

See you soon @karmaindianfood 😜
